Who we are

Lit Lounge is a community platform for book clubs. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the service and how we use it.

What we collect

• Account info: email address and the name you choose.
• Profile content: avatar, bio, and favorite genres you add.
• Club activity: clubs you join, posts you write, polls you vote in, RSVPs, and reading progress.
• Technical data: standard log information (timestamps, browser type) needed to operate the service.

How we use it

To run the service: show clubs to their members, deliver notifications you've opted into, and keep accounts secure. We do not sell your personal information.

What's public

Your display name, avatar, bio, favorite genres, and the public clubs you belong to are visible on your profile page. Discussions, polls, and reading progress are only visible to members of the relevant club. Private clubs and their content are visible only to their members.

What we don't collect

We do not collect your precise or approximate location, contacts, SMS messages, or call logs. Lit Lounge requests no such permissions. We use no advertising identifiers and do not track you across other apps or websites.

Third-party services and AI

To help you find books, the text you type into book search — and book titles, authors, or ISBNs you select — is sent to third-party lookup services: Google Books, Open Library, and Firecrawl (used as a fallback web search). Some book metadata lookups are AI-assisted. Only the search text and book identifiers are sent; your name, email, account ID, or club activity is never included.

We do not use your personal information or your content to train AI models, and we do not sell or share it for advertising. Our hosting and database provider processes your data solely to operate the service.

Your choices

You can edit your profile, leave clubs, and delete your own posts at any time. You can permanently delete your account and its data from Account → Danger Zone — see Delete your account for the full list of what's removed and how to request deletion if you no longer have the app installed. To request a copy of your data, contact us.

Notifications

In-app notifications are on by default. Email and push notifications are opt-in and can be toggled from your account settings at any time. The app is fully usable if you decline notification permission.
